NEW CANTOR STAND A new Cantor stand has been constructed and it looks great. One of our parishioners made it and the cost of the project has been donated by a generous parishioner who wishes to remain anonymous. The black metal music stand we have used for over the years, was due for a change. Our Liturgical Music at St. Mary is something to be proud of. All our cantors, musicians and choir members deserve a "10" for their dedication and enthusiasm. We are lucky to have them. FINANCIAL STATEMENT You will see an insert in the bulletin that shows our nine month financial figures. So far this year, we are down ($27,597). In fact this is not bad considering where we have been the last few years. This past week, I have been working on our new budget for the next fiscal year and we will be balanced. The best tracker of how we have done over the last few years is to see how much we have been taking from savings to pay the bills. My first year at St. Mary was a very bad year financially, because in 12 months, we lost $86,397 in savings to pay our bills. There are a few reasons for this, but we are definitely on the right path now. Here is a quick look at how we have done with our savings account over the last few years.
It is important to note that we have stopped the bleeding and we are moving in the right direction. This week I meet with the Administration Committee and I will propose a Balance Budget to them. CSA UPDATE So far we have 132 families that have pledged a total of $18,395 (35%) toward our goal of $53,356. Thank you for your support. MARY IN MAY May has traditionally been know as the month of Mary and we are certainly proud to have Mary as our Patron Saint. I have heard many stories of how Mary has help people in their lives and that is what Saints do. They intercede for us on behalf of God, so take some time and pray with Mary and don't be afraid to be specific in what you ask for. BETHLEHEM - OLIVE WOOD Peace Land Olive Wood will be here at St. Mary for the weekend of May 24 / 25 to ask for your help with the native people of the Holy Land in Bethlehem. These Christian families once made up 65% of y the population, now they make up less than 2%. These families rely on the income of selling their religious hand-crafted olive wood artifacts to tourists. So they have come to the United States to try to help support these families by bringing their religious artifacts here to sell in the US. All proceeds from the sales will be sent back to families of the Holy Land, so they may be able to keep their homes and provide for their families. The last five years have been very difficult for the Christian families in Bethlehem and this is the only source of income for many of them. TALE OF THE TAPE The money counters are gently asking for your help. If you tape your envelope shut, it requires a lot of extra work to open them. The envelopes are designed to open easily when sealed the right way. They appreciate this very much. GRADUATION MASS On Sunday June 1, at the 8:30 a.m. Mass, we will celebrate our Graduation Mass for all seniors in the parish. This also includes College seniors as well. A breakfast will follow in St. Patrick's Hall. Please contact the Parish Office if you are graduating and plan to attend the liturgy. ST. PEREGRINE This Friday May 16 is feast of St. Peregrine who is the patron saint of cancer. At 8:00 a.m. morning Mass we will have some of the All-Saints High School kids helping out at the mass and collecting for Relay for Life. CLUSTER CORNER St. Hedwig - During the month of May, the rosary will be recited every Wednesday at 6:30 just before the 7:00 p.m. Mass |
