THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL REFLECTION (Matthew 28:16-20)

The Gospel reading today concludes the Book of Matthew. It was at this point that Jesus, knowing he was about to return to the Father, commissioned/commanded the apostles to carry the message of the Good News into the whole world. They would baptize, make more disciples, and teach the message Jesus had taught them. Jesus made it clear that his ascension did not mark an absence; he would always be with them. This Gospel message is the foundation of the Church and makes clear what we are called to do and be.  Knowing Jesus Christ is the first step needed in order to fulfill YOUR mission.  How is your relationship with Jesus Christ?

REFLECTION FOR FAMILIES TODAY!

We don't need to go to the four corners of the earth to be missionaries. We are called as parents to the same mission as the apostles. We are the first and most significant teachers of our children. We bring them to baptism and show them the Good News. Not only our actions speak to our children about what we believe and how we hope they live Christian lives, but our efforts to prepare them for the sacraments and come to the Lord's table every week helps them know the full depth of our faith.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK!

Adults:  How does your faith help you to lift your gaze from changeable circumstances and provide you with a more truthful perspective?

Youth:  Ascension: Jesus commanded his disciples & you and I to go and make disciples of all people. He didn't ask us, he commanded us.   How can you help to make disciples of your peers?

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!  TUESDAY DEADLINE!

Attention Teens! Spring is here and summer is getting closer.

The annual YES experience will take place June 15-20.  Youth work together within an outreach organization with evening get-togethers for fun, learning and new friends.  Registration deadline is May 6th, so we need to hear from you.  Contact Fr. Steve or Marlene in the Parish Center, 892.6031.

HELP OUR CHILDREN LOVE THE MASS

Some tips on helping our kids to be 'present' in Mass:

Make sure they aren't hungry.  Attend the same mass on a consistent basis ~ they get to know people.  Participate yourself ~ model the behavior you expect.  Sit where they can see the altar. Teach the rituals of the Sign of the Cross, bowing, Sign of Peace, praying the Our Father.  Make it a special day ~ your own family celebration to include a special meal together.  Talk about your expectations before mass.  Compliment their good behavior.  Enjoy it yourself.  An enjoyable experience for all.  Good luck!
