ASCENSION OF THE LORD

MAY 4, 2008

In today's Gospel, Jesus prays, "I have given You glory on earth by

finishing the work You gave Me to do." Good stewards follow

His example by using their time and talents for the glory of God.

ST. MARY'S WILL HOST A SPAGHETTI DINNER FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE SOUTH END FIRE

St. Mary's is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner here in St. Patrick Hall on May 6, from 11:00a to 7:00p. Cost is $8.00 for adults, children $5.00 (6-12) and children 5 and under are free. There is going to be a Bake Sale also. We would like as many parishioners as possible make/bake something for the sale.  Donation can be brought to St. Patrick Hall on Monday, May 5 afternoon or before 11:00 a.m. on May 6.  Are you willing to work on the day of the event? Call Cindy Shaheen at 686-0387 or Jackie Delorge at 684-4250. The Red Cross said this is the first group to come forward to help in any way.

COLLECTING CLEAN GENTLY USED T-SHIRTS FOR ONE MORE WEEKEND

Once again we will collect clean gently used t-shirts for the Migrants that will be coming to the area in the near future. Please leave them at the doors of the church.  Our April parish tithe will go to the Migrant Office of the Diocese so they will be able to purchase needed supplies.

PLEASE BRING THE T-SHIRTS ON OR BEFORE MAY 10/11

BENEFIT FOR HERMAN MARSHALL

A FUNDRAISER IS PLANNED FOR Herman Marshall, husband of Eileen Marshall, to help defray medical expenses.  It will be held on Monday, May 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ole Tyme Broadway at 1602 Broadway.  Chicken and rib dinners are on the menu for $10 and $12.00 .  For any other information, please contact Kathi Newsham at 892-4894.  Donations  will also be accepted. (Editor's Note: last month our parish tithe was split between the Marshall and Deyarmond Families.  Both have serious medical situations and skyrocketed bills.)

THANK YOU

Dear St. Mary Tithing Committee,

It is with very humble hearts that our family thanks you for the check you sent us to help with expenses from Grace's illness.  It was much unexpected, and we are so blessed by the love behind the gift.  We plan to put the money aside for gas (future doctor's appointment in Flint) and co-pays from Grace's Doctors.  We also hope to use some to purchase a few toys to donate back to the hospital.  We love our parish family and support.  The Deyarmond Family.

OUR APRIL PARISH TITHE

Our parish April Tithe of $575.70 will be given the Diocesan Migrant Program .

COOKBOOK PROJECT COMES ALIVE
